How Do You Say...

There is nothing like a good data visualization! I have been all over these dialect survey maps by Ph. D candidate Joshua Katz from North Carolina State University, who examined the linguistics study by Professor Vert Beaux and Scott Golder for the raw data. Isn't it fascinating? Corbett pointed out that the tip of Florida often mimics New York - evidence of migration, perhaps? :)

I am definitely from Texas. Except when it comes to pajamas.

oh I love these! So interesting. I'm from the south too, but these words arent the big stand outs as far as accents go to me... in fact the word accent itself is the one that everyone used to rib me about. "ackseeeent" Also Parmesan, Caribbean, and cement. : p
