Another day, another artist to adore. Today it's the Brooklyn-based Art and People and her moody paintings of vegetation. The plants, darkly lit and haphazardly arranged, all have an air of neglect about them. It's as though someone shoved them against a far wall and forgot about them, or carried them into a greenhouse and never bothered to return. But there is a slight glow of fecundity creeping out from underneath the leaves, despite my speculative scene of abandonment. These are stubborn plants, and wily. They are determined to grow. It's an admirable quality.
Essentially, I am very attracted to plants that refuse to die.
