Aren't these balcony gardens beautiful? I'm trying to cultivate one of my own (not pictured -- it's pitiful) and have been on the lookout for both presentation ideas and amenable species. So far I have about a 70% survival rate, which aren't the greatest odds, but they have definitely improved since college! Back then it was good for cactus, sad for everything else. Poor little things. Now, I'm determined to do better, which means hardy, sun-thirsty plants that can stand to be shadeless for most of the day. I've gotten a few herbs (basil, sage, mint, and rosemary), but I think it's time for some flowers. Or something enormous and leafy. Actually, just something that will live.
Wish me some nursery luck! Have a wonderful weekend, everybody.
