In the Bedroom

I feel like I've been in home decor mode for months (or years... or all my life), but it's a lot more exciting now that I actually have a space I can act out all my ideas on! Our new place presents a bit of a challenge as it's an attic apartment, which means some severely pitched ceilings. The rooms in these photos have captured the coziness of a slanted roof, but they still manage to seem airy and light.

Taking Flight

Remember all those not-so-subtle hints I've been dropping about an upcoming life change? Well, it's finally here! After months of searching, I have landed a full time job in the library and information industry! I'll be working in collection development, and I'm so so excited.

While going to a full time position after a couple years of grad student living is quite a change, the biggest transformation of all is the location. As you read this, Corbett, The Baron, and I are all driving up to our new home on the north shore of Massachusetts! I couldn't stay out of the northeast for too long, it seems. Crab cakes, history, sweaters, and snowfall - yes, please! We've rented a cozy little attic apartment right next to the beach, and I can't wait to make it into our home.

Due to the move, posting here might be a bit spotty for the next week or so (depends on how fast we get our internet connected), but I'm looking forward to sharing some of my new adventures with you. It's been a while since I've said this which is weird since I think about it every day, but I want thank you for spending time here with me on Length x Wit. I'm so grateful and happy to be able to share some inspiration and connect with new people. Have a lovely week!

Haunting evocative photography by Elisabeth Dare. Don't these shots read like scenes from a novel? Her blog, Weepy Hollow, is equally lush.

Romantic Suspense

I spent a good portion of my formative years reading romantic suspense from the 1960s & 70s (Mary Stewart, Victoria Holt, and Phyllis A. Whitney in particular), so these gorgeously soapy covers have a special place in my heart. A lone young woman, an ominous house in the background, vaguely threatening foliage... yes, I could not get enough of this. It's actually still a lot of fun for me to peruse these novels at the used book store; the titles alone are entertaining! Were you a gothic romance reader?

Wolf & Moon

Well well, look what the cat dragged in, whole and healthy again! I am a little sad that I no longer sound like Kathleen Turner, but I wasn't sorry to say goodbye to the continuous coughing and medicinal teas. Bring on the coffee and solid foods!

I am especially happy to be back because that means I get to share the gorgeous work of Hannah Davis and her shop, Wolf & Moon. Hannah sweetly emailed me right before the weekend about Wolf & Moon, and before I knew it, I was sighing over this one and this one and this one and adding them to my mental Christmas wish list. The blend of organic and geometric shapes and glints of metallic make each piece a delight. Many of the designs are sold out (go Hannah!), but the eye candy can't be beat. I'm looking forward to seeing what she adds to her shop next (and seriously hoping some of my favorites will be restocked!).

I'm back! I've returned from my travels! Unfortunately, I brought a case of laryngitis home with me, so I'm a little more useless than I intended to be. It's good to be home though, where a nonstop flow of hot tea and cough drops are within easy distance.

Hope you're having a good day!
