Class Portraits

It's a sort of bizarro Sweet Valley High, no? Anuschka Blommers and Niels Schumm (for Self Service) capture the barely suppressed tumult between teenage malaise and intensity in their series, Class of 1998.

So... anyone want to watch Heathers?

it really is "sweet valley high" - that's such a dead on description. hey, did you know francine pascal wrote a modern day sweet valley high...but with the girls all grown up and in their twenties or something? apparently it's not very good

also, i'm embarrassed to say that i've never actually seen heathers....

I had no idea Pascal did a grown-up version! How crazy. I'll have to look into that. I can see it being not very good, but maybe it's a so-bad-it's-fun situation?

Heathers is super dark, so I would read up on it first before Netflixing it to see if you would be interested! The NY Magazine article I linked to also discusses it at length. If you do end up watching it, I would love to hear your thoughts. I haven't seen it in a long time, but I'm eager to watch it again as an adult.
