This spread for Marie Claire Italia from a few years back is achingly beautiful. The supposed warmth of the seaside combined with its actual chilly winds and surf is so springlike -- you want it to be warm so so much you'll do almost anything to trick your mind into thinking that the season has changed, including bringing overcoats and nubby sweaters to the beach.
I think what I love most about this photo shoot is how much it reminds me of an upbeat version of the classic Edward Gorey introduction to Mystery!. All these glamorous people gathered together for a weekend of fun... until someone drowns in the bathtub/is shot during a game of charades/eats from a batch of poisoned crumpets. Sorry - I just can't help it sometimes! I'm sure this particular weekend won't end of a sour note. Just look at all those charming gentlemen in their vests and glasses. They definitely have more of an E. F. Benson vibe.
